I Train Because…

I’ve mentioned it before, and I will mention it again.  Tribesports ROCKS.

Not only do I have an awesome workout from them to share with you, but there is a giveaway possibility from them, too!

First up: the stadium sprints workout!

stadiumsprints

“This Stadium steps sprint, resistance workout circuit is a great full body workout. 1 set: sprint stadium steps, perform push-ups, more steps, squat thrusts, more steps, bicycle crunches, more steps, triceps dips. Challengers need to perform 3 sets. Optional: Wear a backpack with added weight for a harder challenge (10-20lbs)!”

Love the combination of cardio and strength!! Great workout!

In addition to the workout, check out Tribesports’ “I train because…” giveaway! There are three Tribesport tech shirts and 15 pairs of lock laces up for grabs!

All you have to do is head to THIS LINK, and comment on why YOU train!

Easy as that!

Travis and I are packing and heading to Pittsburgh.  Race day tomorrow! I definitely carbo-loaded through a box of cereal last night… :/ I was doing so well the rest of the day!

Here we go!! Happy Saturday!

Ferret Dogs, Sneakers with a Dress, and Giveaway Winners

You might have thought my post title is a little nuts, but it’s exactly what this post includes.

First: Ferrets who are mistaken for dogs. PLEASE tell me you heard about this in the news.  It’s about as good as news gets.

Source

Some guy bought not one, but TWO, ferrets and thought they were dogs.  The ferrets had been given steroids from birth and their hair was poofed out to resemble poodles.  Guys, I can’t make this up. It wasn’t until he took them to the vet that he found of he had been duped.

Next: Sneakers with a dress.   I wouldn’t be my classy self without wearing sneakers around DC in my dress for our engagement pictures! I knew that they are the only things that wouldn’t wreck my feet and legs, so I threw other shoes in my bag and just went with it.  I am a style expert, of course.  Here I am outside the building I worked at a few summers back, the Madison building of the Library of Congress!

Another crazy thing added in for good measure: Have you ever heard of Wim Hof? He is from the Netherlands, and he is known as the Ice Man! He has spent almost two hours fully emerged in ice, which is world record material! The cool thing: he uses a mind over matter technique to get it done. I guess this just goes to show that your mind is a powerful thing!

Here’s a pretty incredible video with a bit about his story.  If you ever doubt yourself, watch this! At the end, he holds himself up, yoga style, on the edge of a cliff with one hand.  I mean, wow.

And the moment you’re waiting for, I’m sure! The winners of my NuNaturals giveaway! Congrats Jessie, Alysia, Renata, and Lauren!!! Please send your name and address to lifeafterswimming AT gmail DOT com.  Thank you!

That’s all the nonsense I have for you today! Serious nonsense.

Have you found anything nuts lately? I mean, once I found a story about a goat going to court, but I think this dog/ferret thing takes the cake.

Brick Workout and More Fun Email Finds

One thing I cannot stand is when my email inbox piles up.  I hate when there are more than about 15 emails that haven’t been appropriately moved to the appropriate folder.  Because I spent most of the weekend either visiting with family or sleeping on the couch, my inbox piled up.  I’m devoting this post to some of the awesome things that I uncovered while clearing through the mess this afternoon.

First, I got information regarding this awesome triathlon brick challenge on Tribesports.  I’ve mentioned how much I love Tribesports in the past, but this makes me even happier with them.  I need the motivation to get into the triathlon gear, and this new challenge is to cycle 10k and immediately run 3k. The distances are shorter than triathlon distances but the idea is to get as fast a time as possible. Make the transition quick!

I totally will complete this challenge as soon as I am back in the running game.  I did bike 20 miles earlier today, which is a start, right?! Transitions were not something I focused on during my triathlon last summer, but my goal is to work on them this year!
