Food Roundup

I am still struggling to comprehend Monday’s events, leading to no post yesterday.  Today will be short and sweet.  In the time saved from reading through a long post, please take the time to remember how precious life is, be kind to others, and make sure others realize how much you appreciate them.  Also, pray for those affected by the horrible marathon event and do all that is possible to try and make the situation as positive as it can be.

All I have is a few pictures of food from the past week:

Beignets from Founding Farmers (aka my favorite DC joint)

Back to work and back to normal eating habits today.  Lots of eating out did not make the body happy!

Also, it’s Geno’s 2nd birthday today! Happy birthday, Gene!

BIRTHDAY WIAW!

It’s my BIRTHDAY!! Wahoooo!

“Nobody loves you when you’re 23…” no longer! I’ve made it to the big bad 24, and though we may got out to dinner tonight, majority of my birthday celebrating happened this weekend! I mentioned some of it earlier this week, but I did leave out what we ate in birthday celebration!

As I had mentioned, we ate brunch at Farmers Fishers Bakers.  You may remember when I ranted about how much I loved it there in the past.  This time was no different.  Actually, it may have been better because I knew exactly what I wanted.

Pulled chicken “puffy” taco and farmers hash (and a missing devoured piece of CHOCOLATE CHERRY FRENCH TOAST – obviously I couldn’t wait to shovel it down)

Amazing cinnamon bun and pizza

IMG_6963

Pulled pork, (already consumed) fruit, MORE farmers hash, and an amazing purple and green kale salad

Cookies and pudding shared with Travis

From there, we walked down to Georgetown Cupcake.  I couldn’t handle a cupcake at that time, but I made sure to take it home to enjoy!

Mine is one of the salted caramel cupcakes in the middle.  Yum.

When we were at One Lounge Saturday evening, Travis and I split some parmesan truffle fries. Holy deliciousness.  They were consumed in less than 3 minutes.

And how could I forget about my “cake”? I LOVE homemade Rice Krispie treats, and my mom makes me a tray for my big day every year.  Needless to say, I have eaten the whole thing in preparation for Lent beginning. So tasty!

Last night, we celebrated Fat Tuesday at Dairy Queen, where I got a small Reese’s cup AND cookie dough blizzard.  And it was totally worth it.  Early birthday celebration!

All of the birthday celebrating has been awesome! The food was amazing, and thanks to Jenn, I was able to share it with you today!

Happy birthday to me!!!

Do you have any special birthday food traditions?!

Happy Birthday to My #1!

Today is Travis’ birthday, so this post is dedicated to him! Happy birthday, Trav!

Let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

Freshman year, Trav’s birthday lasted approximately a week, if I remember correctly.

He had his own celebration, and then we celebrated our 19th together as well!

With his gifts from me! Winking smile

Enjoying our cake from Anna!

Sophomore year, I was mighty creative and sent him on a treasure hunt that took him around campus and ultimately brought him to TGIFriday’s.

There was a treasure chest in his car with a Penn State wall hanging.

And he may hate me for this one, but I love it Winking smile Arggghhhh, mateys!

The next year was the 21st, of course! While I couldn’t take him out for his birthday since he is 4 days older than me, we did celebrate our birthdays together when my parents came to visit during birthday week!

Then came our senior year of college.  We were student teaching and I took him back to Fridays for dinner and dessert, of course!

Last year, for some reason, there were no pictures of us at all, but there is a picture of the gifts I got him.  We were living an hour apart all of last year, so we did a combined birthday/Valentine’s day triple play.  Spending time together was a gift in itself last year!

Needless to say, we have spent some spectacular birthdays together, and I hope today is just as awesome for him!

So, once again, happy birthday Travis! Thank you for always being there for me, making me laugh, wiping my tears, supporting me, putting up with me, and loving me.  Can’t wait to spend many more birthdays together!

Time to celebrate!
