Sandwiching Thoughts

There are a lot of things going well in my life right now.  And then there are things bringing me down.  Let’s sandwich this (just like you would when telling a parent bad things about their child…Ms. ____, your child is so sweet, but she is failing math, but she is such a creative child!).

Happy: I became a Maryland resident yesterday! Got my license and now I guess I am stuck living 30 minutes from the beach…there are worse things! Smile

Not so happy: It cost $72, and now I have to get my car inspected in order to pay more and get my registration transferred over.  And with that comes starting to buy my own car insurance. Welcome to the real world!

Happy: I am going to be a swim coach again! I just found out yesterday and I am super excited for this opportunity.  I love sharing my passion with others!

Found this online and found it fitting Smile

Not so happy: Lots of paperwork, testing, background checks, etc. in order to start!

Happy: Since it took a while at the DMV, Travis and I headed to Ruby Tuesday’s for dinner.  Not only did I have 25% off, we also got dessert.  So much peanut butter goodness.

I also stuck to the salad bar.  My favorite croutons EVER.

Not so happy: I was really hungry before going to dinner, so while waiting for Travis to shower, I devoured a cookie, 4 handfuls of Golden Grahams, and 2 handfuls of Goldfish.  And then, at the restaurant, I had half of Trav’s fries.  Now I feel like a sad mess.  I am so good for about 2 days and then I suck it up big time, usually on my rest day.  Why? And I am going WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING on Sunday – not looking forward to it if I feel unusually large.  I need to find accountability because obviously it’s lacking.

Happy:  New York City on Saturday, and wedding dress shopping on Sunday!

How in the world can I hold myself accountable? I track my food using My Fitness Pal but I still sneak food.  I suck haha.

Thursday Thanksgiving

Howdy, y’all! Anyone find it odd that I am currently watching Enchanted (the Disney movie) on SyFy?

Well, nevermind that.  Throughout the course of today, I caught myself thinking about the many wonderful things I have to be thankful for on a daily basis.  Through my whole Lenten journey, another goal I had sent for myself is to recognize the beauty in the things that God has created for me and to find deeper appreciation for the life that I have.

I am thankful for puddle-less days of sunshine that follow days of dark downpour.

I am thankful for my health, because regardless of injury, my body is still healthy and allows me to accomplish many things day in and day out.

I am thankful for tupperware, especially mini containers and sandwich containers.  Both of which allow me to save some money and save the planet by not using plastic bags.

I am thankful that I do not have to work tomorrow morning and can stay up and watch cheesy TV and eat popcorn.

I am thankful for the Lorax and Ihop, for they are giving children recognition of what happens to the environment and provides seeds to plant trees to help.

I am thankful for the opportunity I was given to coach throughout this swim season. Tomorrow is the first day of their district swim meet, which means that the season will be ending this weekend.  I have enjoyed spending so much time with these swimmers and getting to know each of them.

I am thankful for Amazon.com.  My goodness, I order so many things from them and their service is incredible.  Also, getting mail and packages can brighten my day, even when I am expecting the delivery!

I am thankful that I am one week away from spring break and spending time with my family.  Last year, I wasn’t given spring break due to student teaching, and I have not spent more than a weekend at home with my family in well over a year.

I am thankful that turning vegan for Lent has made me more aware of what I need to fuel my body and has introduced me to new meal creations, such as quinoa which I tried for dinner for the first time! I mixed it with some garlic, corn, peas, and peppers for a veggie fix! Loved it!

I know that I have so many more things to be thankful for, but that’s all I wrote down throughout the course of the day.  I guess I could also be thankful for people who do things like this:

I found this on The Berry and loved it. Some people are amazing.

Well, that’s all folks.  Back to that cheesy TV I was mentioning earlier Smile

What do you have to be thankful for?

Monday Madness

Guess who finished their 27 page research paper and presented it for her final today?

You got it…THIS GIRL!

As a result, my brain is fried and jumbled.  Not really out of the ordinary.

I don’t think I could create a meaningful post at this point, so a random post it is!

A.) Remember when I mentioned that I was coaching my first meet? Well, it happened. It was an invitational with approximately 20 teams.  My team did awesome, and they are ready to kick some butt again tomorrow! The guys team is so tiny, so I give them a lot of credit for what they are capable of! Here’s a shot of the team post meet:

B.) After the swim meet, I went to Travis’s house for a Christmas party with his family.  Though I didn’t take any pictures, the food was awesome.  They had amazing chicken wings, Christmas cookies, and fruits and vegetables.  They also had chocolate covered strawberries YUM.  And dark chocolate dipped pretzel thins with peppermint on them.  Needless to say, I ate a ton of ‘em.

C.) This past weekend, my family welcomed a little bundle of joy.  My cousin and his wife had their first child!! A baby boy named Cillian Orion.  I seriously cannot wait to meet the amazing little guy.  He is the first great grandbaby!

D.)  This coming weekend, I am headed home.  I am only able to go home for a few days this Christmas break because of coaching.  I will be going home this weekend and next (for the actual holiday).  This weekend, I have plans to hang out with some of my high school best friends/teammates, and it is also my dad’s birthday, so I think some celebrating is in order Smile

E.) The Chive is amazing.  I think I may be a Chivette.  For those of you unaware of what the Chive is, please go to the website! It’s where I found this gem:

That is the story of my life.  I cannot stand when eyebrows don’t match.

F.) I raced home from class tonight to attempt to be home in time for How I Met Your Mother.  And it WASN’T ON. Lameeee.

Ok, time to watch What’s Eating Gilbert Grape as a final for my class!

Tell me about your life as of late.
