Everything’s Better At Home

Seriously, is this true or is this true? I could make my mom’s recipe EXACTLY as written, but it doesn’t taste the same.  She even makes toast better than I can.  I don’t make things up.

I also will not make up the fact that I ate A LOT while at home this weekend.  Gained a good 3 pounds overall, but hopefully it goes away quickly.  I also haven’t been really working out due to sickness which doesn’t help things in the weight department.

Here’s a snapshot of what was consumed in the past week, starting with the drive to York Wednesday night.  Granted this is only a snapshot.  We also had pizza, Easter dinner, and candy.  Lots and lots of candy.

First, we tried these new Lays chips.  I’m not going to lie, I’m not really a fan of either of them, but I am not the biggest chip fan (other than BBQ chips).  Travis and I shared the chicken and waffles on the way to Trav’s family, and those were pretty good.  We tried the cheesy garlic bread on the way back, though, and ended up throwing some of them away. Not my favorite. Two of us couldn’t even finish a small bag.  Have you tried these flavors?

On Thursday morning, we headed to Pittsburgh, but not before stopping at Rutter’s.  I got coffee and an egg white sandwich for the ride.

After arriving at my parents’ house, we went to pick up some lunch.  Fortunately/unfortunately, Five Guys and Panera are next to each other, so we had a pretty awesome lunch combo.  I didn’t eat my soup because I ate too many fries.  Don’t even care.  So worth it.

On Friday, my sister, Travis, and I went to Mad Mex after running some errands.  Let me just say I LOVE MAD MEX.  We started off with a Pickadippa of fresh pico de gallo, XX cheese dip, and Kaya Yucatan Black Bean Dip.  Seriously amazing.  I think had some black bean soup and a veggie burrito.  The burrito had pico de gallo, roasted corn, zucchini, grilled peppers and onions, black beans and Monterey Jack cheese.  I ate all of it. ALL OF IT.  And a glass of red sangria. Me? Drinking?  It was so delicious. I love Mexican.

Then, later for dinner, we went to the Elks next to the house for dinner.  Since it was a Friday during Lent, and I couldn’t eat meat, and I don’t like fish, I went with a classic grilled cheese.  And more fries.  When given a choice between chips and fries, I always pick fries.

Next up: post race grub.  Aka a small bag of pretzels and one of these bad boys:

Love Eat’n Park smiley cookies! And then mommy got me Eat’n Park chicken noodle soup. They have the best noodles ever.  Definitely helped with the sickness Smile

Easter breakfast was amazing.  Scrambled cheesy eggs, blueberry muffins, chocolate chip pancakes, and regular pancakes.

IMG_2080

Easter dinner started with buffalo chicken dip and ended with cookies and Reese’s eggs with lots of goodness in between.

My last meal at home was a yogurt bowl with strawberries, cereal, and chocolate chips, which was awesome.

IMG_2086

On the way back to Maryland, lots of coffee was consumed.  I also got a salad from Sheetz that was called a grilled chicken salad but no chicken was found.  FAIL.

IMG_2107

Yesterday, we had ground turkey tacos with leftover goodness from my mom.  I also had lots and lots of jelly beans.  I used them for fuel during my 20 mile ride.

Dessert last night was in order to celebrate National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day! Smile

Lots of eats.  And I’m not even mad about the pounds gained.  It was all worth it. And totally delicious.

That’s my version of What I Ate Wednesday.  A compilation of my fat kid ways Winking smile.  Head over to Jenn’s blog for the weekly link-up.

Back to school today after almost a week off Sad smile.  Off to teach about Edgar Allan Poe!

How I Spent My Tuesday

Let me just say one thing: I am moving on up in the world.

Yesterday, I got a new computer! Ahhhh! So exciting, right? After Best Buy screwing me over a few weeks ago, I finally got the Lenovo Yoga, which has a touch screen and it turns into a tablet.  It’s incredible Smile Once I figure out more of the features, be on the lookout for a post allll about it.

As for yesterday, I got up, went to the dentist, and then headed to Eat’n Park with my best friends, Missy and Emma!

IMG_1008

I got a BBQ chicken salad that had sweet potato waffle fries on it.  It was spectacular.

Afterward, I headed home to clean up the house a bit because my cousins and family are coming over today to make ravioli that will be frozen until Christmas!  I got the ricotta ready to make the filling!

After that, I made some blonde crisp, which is a family and personal favorite.

IMG_1009

6 cups Crispix, 1 cup Cap’n crunch, 2 cups mini pretzels, one can mixed nuts, 1 cup dry roasted peanuts – all covered in melted white chocolate. Yum.

From there, I did some laundry before making dinner!

I know the pictures may not be the prettiest, but here’s a little Crescent Roll-up I made! Half a package of Crescent roll on the bottom, 2ish cups of shredded chicken mixed with a half cup BBQ sauce and topped with a cup of cheese.  Cover with the rest of the Crescent rolls, and bake at 375 for 18-22 minutes.

We had it with some veggies and applesauce.   So simple and tasty, too!

The rest of the evening was spent playing with the computer and watching my favorite Tuesday night shows Smile

Be on the look out for a recap of my family fun! Not too sure how much time I’ll have this week, but it will come to you eventually!

If I’m not back for a few days….

HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Replugging!

Happy Father’s Day and Happy Weekend to all!

I spent majority of the weekend completely unplugged from my computer and enjoying life.  I was in Pittsburgh for the majority of the weekend, and just got back to Shippensburg not too long ago.  Now that I’m plugged back in, I figured I’d show you what I was up to!

Friday, Travis and I got to my parents’ house fairly early.  We joined my mom for lunch at Eat’n Park.  I adore Eat’n Park Smile.  I stuck to my usual: soup and salad bar!

And somehow, I resisted an awesome Pirates smiley cookie!

We then went home, rested up, and headed downtown for dinner at Jerome Bettis’ Grille 36.

We split some nachos, and they were amazing.  We couldn’t even finish them! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Pittsburgh area!

We walked by the water for a bit before heading to wait in line for the fun. concert.

IMG_0183

The concert was fantastic.  Ahhh so good! I love them so much Smile

After the concert, we headed out with some of my friends for my friend Emma’s birthday.

I very rarely get to see my friends from home, and I loved spending time with them Smile

I also got to meet this little girl this weekend:

My friend, Tim, just got a German Shepherd puppy, and she is the most precious thing in the world!

Unfortunately, my dad was gone before I woke up this morning, but I still was glad to see him this weekend! Now, I’m off to bike ride on the local trail on a beautiful day!

How is your weekend??
