My Weekend

Believe it or not, I had a GREAT weekend Winking smile.  Thank you a million times for the congratulations and well wishes.  Only one thing was missing: my family.  I had an amazing weekend with my future family, but my mom is patiently waiting her turn to see me and hear all about it! (She was exploring NYC with my sister!).

If you missed our engagement story, head over to my post to read my ranting about how great of a night it was!

I woke up at 5:30 Saturday morning and I guess I was just so excited that I couldn’t fall back asleep.  Eventually, I got Travis out of bed and we headed to his family’s house back in PA to share our story as well as attend a Christmas party with them! I followed behind him the whole 3 hour drive and shot the above picture at a red light.

When we made it home, we made sure to stop and see all grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.! And then it was Christmas party time!

Dad and the guys

It was so fun to be able to spend time with them and share in the love!

Today, I am heading to swim practice and working a few hours before heading to meet up with my mom and sister. Can’t wait to tell them in person alllll about it!

On a final note, my lovely fiancée (eek!) just sent this wedding planning guide to me! Winking smile He simply is the best.

Any wedding planning advice from those of you who have been there, done that??

P.S. Happy FIRST BIRTHDAY to the cutest little guy around: Cillian!!

Party Weekend

I mentioned it yesterday, but this past weekend was basically one big party.

First, on Friday night, we went to Trav’s cousin’s sweet sixteen!

What a lucky duck!! hah

Saturday started at a party with Trav’s dad’s side of the family – equipped with chocolate fountain.

Then it was off to a graduation party (with a pig roast Smile) before we headed to the races to cheer for one of the kids Trav’s bro went to school with.  I’m not gonna lie, this was my first sprint car and thunder car race experience and I was not a fan of the noise and the dirt that flew at me. Not so sure I’ll be going back… haha

Sunday was a surprise, thanks to Trav, but once again I think I’m going to keep you hanging and make you wait until tomorrow.  It mostly revolved around food, and would be perfect for What I Ate Wednesday! Smile

Have you ever gone to the races?

Cookie Exchange

Remember when I made Cookies and Crème cookies for a cookie swap? Well, that swap happened Saturday night!  I’ll just start by saying that it was definitely a huge success!  The hostess definitely had the mostest Smile

Here’s how it worked: everyone invited makes four to five dozen cookies and separates them into half dozens in bags or on plates.  Everyone then brings the cookies to a party and displays them (with their recipe) for all to see.  Depending on how many plates or bags of cookies you brought, you will then choose that many.  For example, I made four dozen which was eight bags worth.  So that means I chose eight different cookies to sample!

All of the types were perfection.  Believe me, all of my dozens are already gone.  Ok, you may think I am a huge fatty by that statement.  But, in reality, I gave a plate to a friend, my boss, and also to my friend who watched Geno all weekend.  And Travis came over yesterday to help me sample them, too! Winking smile As if I needed help…

There were Snickerdoodles, seven layer bars, pumpkin chocolate chips, Rolo cookies, mint cookies, Mexican wedding cookies, and so many more.  It was hard to choose which ones I wanted!

We also had some yummy food and drinks! And c’mon, would you have expected anything else than me sampling every munchie available?

Swedish meatballs, Brie inside of bready goodness, and spin-art dip!

IMG_3176

Mini-grilled cheeses…my mom’s amazing recipe!

And one of my all-time favorites…buffalo chicken dip! So addictive!

There was also a fudge tower, does life get any better?

I think it is safe to say that I loved this party so much.  Maybe too much. Maybe it was the sleepiness due to the race? Eh, oh well! It was nice to hang out with girls that I wasn’t really familiar with (as it was with my sister and her friends).  I usually don’t bust out of my comfort zone often! It was also very well themed, and the best theme at that! There was holiday music, decorations, even the plates! She definitely deserved an A++++ for the party!

Question for you: have you ever been to a Cookie Swap party?
